The Belleville Turnpike Bridge (also known as the Rutgers Street Bridge) crosses the great Passaic River, connecting Belleville to North Arlington. The bridge was formally renamed on July 4, 2013, as the ‘Lance Corporal Osbrany Montes de Oca Memorial Bridge’ in memory of a United States Marine Corps soldier who died in February 2012 in Afghanistan, just 10 days after being promoted.

Selecting a New Drain

• Compression style drains – compression style shower drains attach to the drain pipes with compression nuts and washers. Compression fittings are easiest to use, but it’s important that the fittings are installed correctly, to ensure a tight seal, and that they are long-lasting. Most compression style drains are available in PVC, ABS, or brass.

• Glue-on drains – much like compression style drains, glue-on drains are also available in ABS or PVC. These drains are best suited for plastic, steel, or fiberglass shower pans. While glue-on drains are relatively easy to install, it’s important to make sure that you have the right size pieces (and to double check the fit) before gluing the drain down.

• Custom drains – custom drains are made to fit with customized designs for your specific needs, and therefore require special tools to install.

Installing a new drain

Before a new drain can be installed, the existing one needs to be taken out and discarded. The drain discarding process is often extremely complicated, and so should be left to the experts.

The process of installing a new drain also depends upon the type of drain you want to use. If the drain is installed after some minor restructuring, then some alterations would  be necessary to the plumbing system as well.
